RE: A hydrogen hybrid would solve the range anxiety issue and allow refueling much faster.

Hydrogen[1] might also solve the problems batteries experience at arctic (or near arctic) temperatures. Though I never want to see far sub-zero temperatures in Texas[2], ultra low temperatures occur far too frequently (in my opinion) in the northern states[3].
