Hello Christine. I am more scared by those whose entire lives can be held up to public scrutiny without a blemish. I get the feeling that they had to live for the public eye -- in a glass house -- at all times and they do not even realize the monstrosity of that.

Christine, do not let Freddy, Janice et al. bully you over at your thread. I have much respect for Janice as a symbol of everything that is wrong with elitism. She has a hard time saying anything at all. Freddy is bright but gets stuck on labels. You are quite right the New Testament develops a fondness for derrogatory use of the term the "Jews" sometimes without acknowledgement of Jesus as a Jew. Two references are "Europe and the Jews" by Hay and "The New Testament" by Enslin. Their credentials are more than satisfactory. Enslin traces the number of times the term "the Jews" is used by various gospel writers and in what context. It starts out light (four or five times in an ambiguous manner) and grows disturbing (some seventy times in the gospel of John always in a pejorative context). Of course the Nazis pushed the issue even further.
