Think of it this way, China as an example... a rising economic power will have a collateral military to protect its interests. That is a given. Now, for your peace of mind, I liked gBush1.. except for the 1st gulf war with Saddam Hussein. But he lost his 2nd presidency because of a split vote. Such is politics. William Jefferson Clinton, okay until Hillary involved herself with healthcare. Bill Kristol, not the comedian, realized if this health care plan were to be American middle- class successful, that might have been the end of the republican party as viable opposition. Then of course, there was the big mouthed Newt Gingrich.. a real pos. As per the federal budget issues.. you should look back to the mid- '80's when congress passed legislation to balance the budget, in response to Reagan's prodigious spending. By law, the budget had to address a means of taxation to support. Bush1 knew this but he got caught up with his infamous 6- word quote. Again, there was the big mouthed Newt Gingrich.. a real pos. I was sitting in a Munich beer garden in 1999. I hate to burst your red- white- & blue bubble, but Bill was & still is, enormously popular overseas. The hero of Kosovo, the leader of Nato had showed the Europeans the way forth in the war torn Balkans, blew up the Chinese embassy in Belgrade (I liked that one) & most importantly (for me) he re established relations with Viet Nam 1995. Brilliant! As for Bill's lying.. all normal guys lie about women! Your mention of Bill's cigar. I'm thinking Bill was turning the republicans on. Again, there was the big mouthed Newt Gingrich.. thrice married, cheated, recently a convert to Catholicism (I break with the Church.. there is no salvation for Newt) again, a real pos. Clinton should have presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Larry Flynt, an honorable military veteran, for his public service, the sexual dismantling of all those closeted republicans by very own affairs. I'll make a projection.. VietNam, hopefully I will return there after too many years distant. Vietnamese in America & elsewhere send much needed foreign currency home. And, who else but the U.S. is positioned to stop Chinese aggression off the coast of Viet Nam? (de facto alliance). The middle- East. Swapping places with the Russians in Afghanistan is nothing short of stupidity. Putin should put a statue of Ronald Reagan in Red Square.. congratulating him for getting Russia out of their stalemated Afghan war. Bush2 chasing one f*****g Saudi.The whole of the middle East is unstable and in disarray, with millions of people seeking refuge elsewhere... thanks to gBush2. I'm for 2yr minimum public service for all.. for some, military.

The military problem to my mind in Foreign Policy terms really started to accelerate under Mr. Obama as to vets getting screwed I just watched Born on the 4th of July with Tom Cruise again... so that is that.. Mr Biden .. I like his progressive moves to a point.. my three Lib tenets..Beyond which I am Libertarian 1) solid public health 2) solid public ed 3) a UBI (Universal basic income) which sure can be clawed back from us that do not need it.. but I DO NOT MIND.. These things do not guarantee equality of OUTCOMES.. that would be UNFAIR to industrious folks and am DEAD SET against trying to guarantee that.. which I am pretty sure makes Americans roil at Communisn.. Communism DOES NOT WORK.. ..Some socialism though is good for ALL UBI means cancellation of almost all financial gov support programs.. Unemployent, Pensions.. blah blah blah ... think of the overhead savings alone!!! You get enough money to eat and have a roof over your head.. school is free .. if you work hard you get ahead.. period.. if you do not then at least you survive and those who work hard have a clear conscience ... Right now I think foreign policy wise Mr. B is trying to bring us back to pre Mr Reagan days .. Ironic
