I usually do at least a cursory check before repeating this sort of thing, but I didn't this time. Confirmation bias at work. I'll see if I can run it down.

Yep, you're right. A cursory check turns up a blizzard of garbage. I'm usually quick to spot and dismiss this stuff, but this time I stepped in it.
