James, Red Ball express to San Francisco.... leaving Grand Central Station on track 9... only three days to the Golden Gate... woo! woooooooo!!, look at that steam engine go ...chugga chugga. They JUST DON"T GET IT! Compared to LMDS, DSL is an incremental increase over what is available today. If viewed from the Telcom perspective, the ANSWER will always be, "PHONE LINES,"... now what is the question? Compared to my 28.8 modem TODAY, DSL sounds great.... and I would love to have it...TODAY .... but two years from now, it will be a 386.... with a lot of wasted investment behind its short term life. Some people will continue trying to perfect the buggy whip! It is time to move on beyond today's infrastructure. This industry needs some VISION. Unless the plan is to sell us on each incremental increase.. ie they love these 33 rpm records (today's internet) let's plum that market until we roll out the 8 track tapes (DSL).. then casettes (LMDS)... then CDs (SATCOM??) etc :( I want to invest in at least the casettes!!!
