Arctic air firmly over Asia right now with a lobe into eastern Europe which begins to encroach westward in the 2nd screenshot below. The next three, it takes over Europe and sits there through the 23rd. It appears that the polar vortex is tracking with the direction taken by the North magnetic pole and hanging out on the eastern side of the Prime Meridian now that the magnetic pole is on that side too.

It's cold back East with more to come.
A heavy snow from Georgia to Maine for the weekend is shaping up in the forecasts with some very busy sunspots to be earth facing concurrently.
Could be a real mess.
