If you don't mind me asking what is your favorite ASDL play? What is your timeframe for massive ADSL implementation?

Matt --

I don't have a pure ADSL play right now, though there are a couple private companies that could get interesting if they come public. In lieu of that, I'm continuing to invest in TXN as a secondary play and also companies like ASND, CSCO and NN who'll benefit from the changes in the industry. With Newbridge, anyone who's a value investor couldn't find a better company to tuck away and bring out 2 or 3 years down the road.

As for time-frame for deployment, I'd expect chips to come out mid year, with product shipping before Christmas. Any sizeable deployments will be '99. This time next year I would imagine we'll start seeing national advertising campaigns from the likes of USWest, PacBell and GTE for "Lightning Speed Internet access. . ." and so on. Then the fun begins.

Also, don't overlook the provisioners. I've taken a position in Anicom because they supply wires and equipment to copper, cable and wireless. No matter who wins (actually, I think they all will), they will, too. I keep hearing good things about Fluke and I can't believe I still don't own them. They do test equipment for telecommunications and are one of the few companies with an ADSL product.

Hope this helps. Don't hesitate to email me if you have any more questions.

Regards,

Pat
