Netscape to intro SuiteSpot 3.5 on Monday

Netscape Communications Corp. on Monday will introduce SuiteSpot 3.5, an interim version of its server software that builds toward the release of its next-generation line of software, code-named Apollo.

Central to the new software is the final release of Directory Server 3.0 and integrated support for the new Directory Server with the rest of its software systems.

This means that Netscape's Enterprise Server, Collabra Server, Messaging Server, Calendar Server and other Netscape server software will interoperate and use Directory Server 3.0 for tasks such as access control, lookups and the coordination of tasks across multiple servers. SuiteSpot 3.5 will also include a number of minor tweaks and fixes.

The Mountain View, Calif., company is planning to release the first of its Apollo servers -- Messaging Server -- into beta in the second quarter, with the rest of the Apollo software due to be released in the first half of the year.
