I think maybe the Mason-Dixon line fizzles out somewhere around Missouri [?], so SF wouldn't be considered Yankee territory. Just where the line ends going East to West, I don't know. But it would be interesting to find out exactly where the West end of the line is. The main thing, however, is the North/South aspect of the line, from around Missouri, Eastward. That's where the trouble was...uh, still is? <g>
