This will be interesting to watch -- what you say makes sense, and I should just focus on technicals -- buuuut ... there is sentiment, too. Sometimes everyone is so bearish -- you have to be bullish and sometimes everyone is so bullish you have to be bearish. It seems we have just come out of a period where small caps have been "knee-capped" and nobody thought the index could go up. Now there seems to be a consensus forming that small caps will play catch up in 2022. If I were strictly contrarian -- I'd say this fits like a glove with your analysis: A good whacking back down to the level you have identified with your forks. Again, should be interesting to watch ...
