SpeedFam International (SFAM:Nasdaq) warned that it expects to report third-quarter earnings of 30 cents to 32 cents per share, missing the seven-analyst consensus estimate of 39 cents versus the year-ago 42 cents. The company cited weak chip demand and the effects of the Asian economic crisis, and it said those factors could dampen its fourth-quarter results as well. Current fourth-quarter estimates call for 39 cents versus the year-earlier 46 cents.

OFF TOPIC (Heh.....)

12 10? Man I thought my kids were big, what is he about 6 foot 4?

Mine were 8 and change, 11 15 and 11 10 or something like that.

The older 2 are 15 and 13 and wear my shoes....size 14. Flunking band is tough to beat, but mine flunks Religion because it's "stupid". Aces the tests but does no homework.

An "A" student until 9th grade, while I was dealing with problems with the second one the first one ran thru 3 years of lame teachers in the parochial school system. Completely ruined him while I was not paying attention, due to the other one. Now he thinks he can get away with murder and play catch up and get by at the last minute, the moron. He does not ask for help and I cannot help him in Latin, for example, anyway. My wife remembers her Latin but all they do is go to war with each other so for the life of me I don't know how he is going to get thru another year of that.

The public schools are no better out here, the 8 year-old was ripped out of that parochial school. I was not only fed up with the teachers but also with the pastor who cared more about how much money you turned over to him than anything else.

If killing them is not an option then I'm not certain what I am going to do here. Jack is reluctant to move and they don't take kids until 7th grade in that Newark school so I'm afraid the 8 year-old will never approach his potential.

Sorry. I'm sure that reading this must be depressing as I just bummed the hell out of myself. At least most of yours seem ready to jump to the next level. I don't even have all of mine in High School yet.

Wentworth Laboratories Inc. of Brookfield, CT will hire "at least" 50 employees in the next six to nine months as it more than doubles the size of its Commerce Road headquarters.

Wentworth makes "probe card" devices used by other manufacturers to test semiconductors.

Donald Brown, president of the probe card division, said he expects additional orders as the semiconductor market continues to grow. Principal clients International Business Machines and Motorola are expanding their national semiconductor operations with construction of new plants and joint ventures, according to Brown.

"We are a very solid and sound supplier to the semiconductor industry."

Sounded somewhat interesting... what does it mean?
