Changing the technology may solve some problems but may introduce others. And there are some things that are just outside the realm of technology. For example, voting from home from your computer or phone, which you love, has the same problem as absentee ballots, which you hate more than any other aspect of the current system, wrt someone lobbying over the voter's shoulder or marking the ballot for them.
