Ibexx - Re: Intel and Rambus

Intel will be using Rambus - D memory devices on their Katmai processor and associated chip set CAMINO.

Although Intel is talking about early 1999 for a Katmai/Camino introduction, I have a feeling Intel will be "just a little ahead" of that schedule with actual devices.

To that end, Intel will most likely be trying to procure RAMBUS memory devices in some quantity for system design/check-out/debug in late Q1 or early Q2 of this year. As Intel pursues these devices, the actual status of Katmai and Camino will become clearer, as well as Intel's commitment to RAMBUS.

I suspect we will be reading unofficial "leaks" about Katmai systems well before the end of this year. In fact, these "stories" should help propel the company in Q3/Q4 of this year.
