Look on the bright side. Qualcomm has very little exposure to Indonesia, nightmare of the Pacific.

CDMA is now an established standard. What I wish Qualcomm would do is co-opt the transition to super-GSM. A head to head battle between the two standards is going to be a pointless expensive and inconvenient battle for phone users let alone for vendors.

Qualcomm indicated in the CC that their dual mode phones analogue/CDMA are selling far better than CDMA only phones. Imagine that! People don't want to buy a phone that's useless outside of a limited coverage area.

Qualcomm will have a much healthier future and it will come sooner if they stop over-playing their hand. A lesson Netscape never learned which they and their investors are paying for. May this fiasco bring some humility to the "head-in-the-clouds" management at Qualcomm.

Human nature.

Did you listen to the conference call? As surprising as this news is (maybe it's not so surprising), analyst were got off guard by QCOM management reporting this early in the quarter. IN some regard I think management was surprised.

Truthfully, I was blindsided. I didn't have put's this time. Those that bought them today, well, they maybe disappointed This maybe a harbinger of more bad news for some companies this Q. If they have high exposure to Asia, they maybe in a similar soup.
