Yes, Del, there was already overwhelming evidence to support evolution before we found these very sweet small slimy creatures that are SO old. But I do believe that knowledge is cumulative, and that filling in the gaps gives the religious right less ammunition to support their views.

Speaking of ignorance, here is some more evidence that global warming exists and is causing changes on the planet:

British scientists warned that the massive Larsen B ice sheet is breaking up in Antarctica because of rapid rises in temperature associated with global warming. The British Antarctic Survey says the 8,000-square-mile ice sheet is "critically unstable" and may collapse during the next two years. Such an event could alter the warm Gulf Stream ocean current, affecting the climate as far away as Northern Europe. Temperatures around the ice cap are rising five times faster than the global average, and grass has been seen growing along the edges of the icy continent.
