Software >> you might want to reinstall windows with the network card installed<<

This touches on a subject that we have not discussed yet.One of my complaints with the big box makers is the software options. I know of no way of reinstalling Win 95 on the Compaq Presario 8772. They provide a CD with a complete reload which involves a total reformat of the harddrive. My IBM Aptiva provides a similar option. If I go through this total reinstall of the Compaq provided software will the network card be included in the process?

I believe the "start from scratch" approach is a good tool and should be used from time to time. With fast CD ROM drives the process can move along quickly.

One consideration in the design of a system might be to keep the C: drive with the operating system on a smaller harddrive (2 or 4 GB?). The reformat process goes very slowly on my 6.5 GB drive.

I want software flexibility as well as hardware flexibility. With my next machine I will attempt to achieve this flexibility.

Thanks for your input
