Well, sure isn't that a great quote by one of England's funniest GAY men of letters, the esteemed Quentin Crisp. My husband thinks he is just brilliant. I guess everyone will be asking me the same question about which God I don't believe in if I ever go to Northern Ireland. I don't feel like taking stupid risks at the moment--there are still ignorant people there who would perhaps kill our sweet little family because we are perceived as being "mixed". A Catholic eighteen-year-old girl in a very peaceful community was shot in the head and killed this past year while she was sleeping at her Protestant boyfriend's house with his whole family there, by a gunman from a Protestant splinter group. The last time Sinn Fein's leader, Gerry Adams, was in San Francisco we all went to a dinner for him, and when he spoke he said that Northern Ireland should be a place where Protestants, Catholics and PAGANS can all live in peace and freedom. I really liked that. This is my husband's Irish name for me--Grainne, Irish for Grace. Pronounced GRAWN-ya. I really like that, too. It is very soft. I was looking at Irish houses on the net again the other day, and found this one. I realize it is REALLY beat up--I guess you would have to take the footprint and basically start over--but it has two fireplaces, and its surroundings seem just magical. Telephone and electricity 'nearby' is not so great, but I could live out my life by candlelight fantasy. Aren't the guys who redo thatch roofing supposed to be very cute or something? <<);^)npn.ie P.S. You are sounding a little sad and alone this weekend, Carol. I am sorry things don't seem to be working out for you. What a fool he must be!!
