Thanks for the article...NOT GOOD news for AMD. Basically, the article is saying everything will be PII sooner than thought. K6 will have much worse price/performance with PII than PMMX. If AMD can't fix .25m to cut K6 costs and improve performance soon, they will be in serious trouble.

foad, This is exactly what I have been saying Intel ignored the sucess of CPQ with sub-1000. Then they denied the sucess, because they had nothing to offer. This caused them to canabolize their pricing structure which was the only alternative in order to buy time so they could come up with something useable for the hottest growth sector. The other problem is to recoginze the mistake would mean that Intel would have to interupt it's roadmap planning and turn it upside down. That is to say sell a lot of cheap chip. Not sell a lot of high priced chips. In all the move gives AMD some breathing room to sell every K-6 they can make on the low end. the July planned Death of the pentium will also help. AMD problem is inability to make enought chips efficently. The .25u conversion set up problems. and the Insane policy of selling k-6's 25% below pentiums. In short AMD has guaranteed the inability to make a profit untill all three of these problems are reversed and solved. Untill then AMd will remain braake even at best.
