The Ukrainian military would become NATO, but not itself be a bigger threat to Moscow than it is now (which isn't much of one). The Ukrainian military is already there. And again Ukraine becoming part of NATO wasn't happening.

And if it wasn't for Russia's previous aggression against Ukraine, Ukraine itself probably wouldn't be pushing for NATO membership (but probably would want EU membership) and would have a weaker less threatening military as it wouldn't have received military aid and wouldn't have made much of an effort to strengthen its forces. Before Crimea, Ukraine's military was weak and declining. All Russia had to do was leave Ukraine alone and they would have pretty much nullified the threat.
