Pravin - Re: "What are the chances that this "Better Chips" guy has accurate information?"

You can calibrate this cheerleader with his "inside information" from a statement he made on November 19, 1997, to wit:

{==============================}
11/19/97
I'm back from San Jose! And boy do I have some good news. I met with my
contacts at AMD and heard some interesting information. The K6+3D-300
(100MHz bus) is out in beta and is a VERY fast processor. First benchmarks
show that it is 25% - 30% faster than the P-II 300!!!! This is a very fast
processor and seems to be working quite nicely, maybe I'll get one soon. The
processors should be out sooner than most people think, possibly in December
or January!! So keep tuned for some stiff competition from AMD.

{=============================}

That was TWO AND A HALF MONTHS AGO - a 300 MHz K6 +3D.

Well, Pravin, have you bought your 300 MHz K6 +3D?

Why not?

The YIELD SOLVED scenario sort of conflicts with AMD's announcement a few days ago that AMD WAS WITHRAWING from all analysts conferences this quarter. I would assume that, had the yields indeed improved dramatically, Jerry would waste no time in trumpeting this fact to the analytical masses.

Pravin,

Re:

Although he seems to be a bit of a cheerleader, he has been accurate in the past. He was the first to talk about the k6+ and the Mobile K6. He wrote about them before any official press release from the company. His source is someone within AMD. I wouldn't discount his information because of his age.

Aloha,

David A.
