Oh Yeah don't forget Japan will be launching CDMA sometime last Q 1998 in a BIG way.

In any line of business, either you focus on doing it "right" or don't do it at all.

Can not agree with you more about importance of establishing CDMA as gloabal standard, so that QCOM can sell suite of products and services into that standard environment. (Personally only worked with companies that leverage this approach because it fosters sustained growth. And it's a good reason to follow this company.)

QCOM anted up big time this quarter, spending almost $6 million alone on SuperBowl. Management and the analysts were counting on the fat Q flip-phone margins to help finance conquering the CDMA world, in addition to recovering their SuperBowl and other advertising investments. As long as management learns quickly from their mistakes, I won't sweat the "small stuff". IMHO, management can't afford to make any more mistakes in the handset business. (We'll just have to wait longer to see that return.)
