Sheila,
I think it would have been hard for KE to inspire confidence during the conference call, as he had just lost millions of dollars in the hour before it. He must have had a sinking feeling in his stomach during the call given how many shares and options of IOM he owns. I'm sure it made it hard for him to give a good performance after losing millions in the hour before the call, I know it would certainly affect me in that situation.

Craig

Shiela, I think he was shell shocked.

The sell off had already done tremendous damage at the time of his CC and he was probably shaken and clearly defensive. Not fun to be speaking to an audience of burned stockholders and analysts who have already pulled the plug on your show.

Clinton's first public response to his scandal exhibited the same sort of shell shock and lack of conviction. And he was punished severely for it. He has since regrouped and come out swinging.

I suspect that we will see KE come out swinging at his Bear Stearnes conference and a full press marketing drive at the Digital Photography Convention in New Orleans. He should be further energized by the strong retracement of the stock price.

KE got the wind nocked out of him but I think he'll be back in the game real soon.

>> I read the CC and found that KE was very insecure , very fuzzy ..... <<

SR -- I don't know how many past CC's you may have listened to, but the perplexing and frustrating thing about this one was how out of chararcter he seemed. Which led to some speculation by some of us that he might have had been an ulterior motive behind it......and wondering who all showed up the next day to grab ~47,000,000 shares at a bargin price.

It's funny how two people can get two totally different impressions out of written text, because I feel quite the opposite about KE's demeanor, after reading the text of the call. Maybe I missed the parts you are specifically referring to. I still don't think the "Asian" excuse holds much water in the overall scheme of things, but he adequately explained why he used the excuse in the CC.
