I hope so. I've been bearish on the market
so long I cant even remember when I chose
to favor savings over "investment"--maybe
it was 1987. Someday saving will be
fashionable, of course, with most people
rich off MSFT, price inflation will make
me a comparative beggar.

If the government stopped taxing
interest on savings then the increase in
savings would drive interest rates down.
I would guess that retired people on fixed
incomes like the current situation--rates
high relative to the rate of inflation.
Lenders probably like high rates too--
you know, now that I think about it, the
mortgage interest deduction is a real load
of crap--people with mansions get a much
better deduction than I do. Hmmmm
