I can understand patenting hybrid production process, but not the hybrid itself. It is a living thing. If someone else could figure another method of tweaking the genes to get the same hybrid, then seems to me it would be two patented processes of production. Dr. David Martin asserts that it is illegal to do it with the viruses. I will have to watch more of his presentation that I linked to. I've seen other videos he's made. I wonder how much people try to stir up controversy to get YouTube clicks. I guess I'm not that cynical about him though.
