My grandfather, Jack Wilkes, bought into the Tucker Dream. Tucker couldn't get enough financing to keep it going so he sold dealer franchises and luggage that would fit in the Tucker trunk at the front of the car. This was the scheme that brought Tucker down. My grandfather never said a bad word about the man, though he had a warehouse full of luggage he couldn't sell :-). Shutting off financing for Tucker wasn't hard and nothing definitive can be proven to this day about big 3 conspiracies to shut Tucker down.

As to mass-transit conspiracies, Bus lines being formed to sell Firestone tires and trolley companies being bought out and dismantled AFAIK it is all Hollywood fantasy. Also, the 100mpg carburetor is a fantasy as we all know that electronic fuel injection did away with the need for a carburetor at a lower cost, less maintenance and greater fuel economy than a mechanical carburetor could ever achieve without constant tuning and adjustment.

The preceding is off-topic, sorry.

Go BAAT!!
