Paul, I would not have bought Intel if I did'nt think it would not out perform the AMD senior notes. I'm hoping Intel has begun to move up again... earlier than I expected on weaker fundimentals. Buyers appear to be buying the Intel propaganda and rosy forcast for simi for 98. ai expect Intel to print 95 buy the end of next week. If you recall this was the same story that was floated lst year this time. Growth estimates for chips were 30% for 97 and in the end growth was only 7-8%. Now they are saying (DataQuest... Soundview) growth for 98 will be 15-18%, equal to Intel historical average growth rate. Lets hope Intel can equal the historic average. Oracle came through in spades up over $3 the day after the purchase, I expect it to keep going at least to 30. I expect Amat to pop to 40 on release of earnings.
My largest holding is Cpq... the clasic move of the arbitragers is to short the acquirer(CPQ) and buy the acquired(DEC) to take advantage of any premium paid by the acquirer should a bidding battle insue for the company. In the absence of another bidder the shorts will have to cover. Unpon announcement of the aqusition by CPQ the shorts won the day driving the price of CPQ down 3 to 4 points. Now the news is the deal is acreitive to earings this year, and there are no other bidders. The shorts are in a squeeze and compaq should pop to 40.
Yousef if you read this post I have at least seven reasons why the CPQ/DEC deal is a good deal for CPQ. Again your alpha analysis is incorrrect and your negativity is costing you some serious money in CPQ.
