Thanks. I had read that, but didn't dwell on the distinction between a presumed and confirmed condition. My assumption was that if the drug worked on those suffering from NASH, then diluting the patient population would make it tougher to detect significance. On further thought - a candidate drug is as likely to be more effective against the symptoms, and that would bias the trial in favor of the drug.
