Jamie,
Btw, the easy way of this silliness with Putin won't cost a single bullet or life. We kick Russia out of the global banking system. Their economy will collapse.
I agree with kicking Russia out of the global banking system, but even that is reportedly off the table:

Biden’s Sanctions Plan Targets Russian Banks, Companies and Imports if Ukraine Is Attacked - WSJ

Off the table, for now, are sanctions on oil and natural gas exports or disconnecting Russia from SWIFT, the basic infrastructure that facilitates financial transactions between banks across the world, said one of the officials.

*******

Of course, that can change, and I sure hope that the Brandon administration will indeed change their minds about disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT network.

Still, none of that is going to matter to Ukraine. It's not going to stop Russia if they decide to invade, and it's not going to get back the land that Russia is taking via military force.

And you can bet your bottom dollar that Putin is well aware of the costs, even the cost of being disconnected from the global banking system. Whether the Russian economy collapses or not is anyone's guess.
