It was disturbing the first couple of times it shut off for me but I soon got used to it. And I can turn it off easily if I want.

I doubt it actually saves any gas though.

Rented a Hyundai in HI. Had AI steering assist. I left it on. Too much trouble to figure out how to turn it off. It didn't seem to fight me. Seemed like a good thing, but it had some issues. Didn't recognize lines and arrows in turn lanes - beeped at me for no good reason.

It had an option to turn it off, but I dealt with the beeping by bleeping back at it.

it shuts off the engine when the car stops at lights, etc.

I hate that feature and wouldn't have a car that did it.


I don't like that, either. Good way to burn up the starter motor from over use. Probably just when the warranty expires.

Anyway, you can shut off that stop/start system, if you want to. Check the owner's manual for instructions.
