>> The drafting of the Trump law offers a unique opportunity to examine how the billionaire class is able to shape the code to its advantage, building in new ways to sidestep taxes.

I'm not going to get into a deal with you, but if you had any idea how tax law was written -- and you clearly do not -- then you would realize what a crock of shit this story is.

If you think Congress does it you're nuts. There aren't three members of congress who understand it enough to make cogent changes to the law. And they certainly aren't able to accommodate Bloomberg or anyone else based on contributions.

In fact, the JCT doesn't even do it. These are very low level tax attorneys who are close to the areas of the tax code involved and can tell Congress (through the JCT), "Hey you can't do that because it will fuck up this over here".

In my years in tax practice, only once did I see manipulation of the tax code like this, which was when Speaker Jim Wright managed to slip in a highly isolated piece of revenue code that would have allowed the exemption from tax any estate in Tarrant County, TX with a specified date of death from any estate tax liability.

Even Jim Wright couldn't make it happen. The next update on the draft legislation had it stricken.

It just doesn't happen like this because it can't.

I know it is distressing.

Where I live I see so much misery of homelessness and poverty and if the rich paid their fair share we could have social programs to help them.

Old people on the street begging, and living in tents in mud squalor with constant rain and no programs to help them out while the rich just get richer from not paying taxes.

Being old is hard enough without having the basics of health care and enough money for food, shelter and basic necessities.

And the only one's who have ever done anything for these people are the Democrats.
