John, that is an interesting discrepancy.

Again, maybe I've been following the Lewinsky scandal a little too much, but...

The writer uses the language "it expects" in referring to the (.20-30)/sh loss for the upcoming quarter, as opposed to "analysts expect".

I think you ask a valid question, even more so when
1) you line it up against the piece reporting that Dan Niles' would expect lower guidance, and
2) the fact that right after the early-August peak, there seemed to be a slew of revisions/downgrades coming VERY close together.

If that NYT report is wrong or the wording of that particular phrase makes it misleading, MU should come out publicly and say so.
