This was posted by someone who favors censoring Rogan: I heard on NPR today that the musicians leaving Spotify and people cancelling their subscriptions doesn't matter to them much. Reason being.... the podcasts have become a lot more lucrative than music. They have to pay artists royalties so the artists just cost them money---they attract people to the platform but that's already happened-- the musicians don't really make money for them. Paying Joe Rogan 100 Million dollars is covered easily by the advertising that appears on Spotify during podcasts.... and that advertising happens only when your account is free. So the free accounts are even better than the subscriptions and musicians leaving is fine too. They'll just adapt and keep making money.
