Business competes with other business, and must always be competitive or it will be driven out. I take no issue with basic health screening in restaurants, but having grown up working in my dad's restaurants, I know they are a joke.

That is how things work. And how it should be.
Business is driven by revenue and profits, not by government bureaus. While it is necessary for restaurants to tolerate inspections, they don't drive the business. Customers do. You are answerable to your customers. Anything else -- like health inspections -- are a mere distraction.

You need basic standards of health in a restaurant but the reality is those won't prevent people from getting sick. It is the business owner's self interest that prevents illness from spreading.

Government is a superfluous drag on business. While it is necessary to comply with the law, business people should never support government regulation. Even when you think it is a good idea, it isn't. I've seen many times even experienced individuals support regulation. Mark Zuckerberg is doing it now (and I understand his motivation) but it is a bad move for him as well as the public. He thinks it is a good move for him and bad for the public. It just isn't. He'll learn.

So, I just think you and come from very different places on this topic. I would say from the two extremes. Customers are in charge. Not bureaucrats.
