His bio says he's around 76 which means he didn't discover mRNA. mRNA was discovered in the 1960s.

Cullis' work created a delivery system 20 years after mRNA was discovered.

And before you get too misty eyed over big pharma, they didn't create these clot shots either.
Pfizer isn't arrogant enough to believe that they can create anything on their own.

Instead, they look for smaller companies that are developing drugs that look promising, then buy them out.

My wife used to work for one of them. They developed a cancer drug that showed promised during early trials. Pfizer came in and bought them out for a 10-digit figure, only to find that the drug was actually less effective than originally expected.

Didn't matter to my wife, whose stock benefits immediately vested upon buyout. (They weren't that much, but it was still a sweetheart deal.)
