Finally,, the final TSB report on the Field runaway and derailment that killed three men.

The “” brake retainer”” boondoggle of all time finally exposed as “” release brakes and catch”” dreamed up by

inexperienced human , and nowhere in the rules and never will be. In simple terms trudge by the stopped

In emergency train and throw a tiny lever to apply the brake retainers,,, 85 of them was the gamble.

The relieving crew,, apparently did not have a chance to try this dreamed up folly as the train rolled away on

its own all 85 applied retainers doing nothing as very little air remaining on the train.

Brake retainers are NOT hand brakes,, as demonstrated by new hand brake rule 66 that came out after the

fatal Field derailment. This alone is a lawsuit winner ,, pay up CP and change the culture.

Nor is “” release and catch “” in the rules and never will be.
