Yeah, Spengler is good even when he gets something wrong which is seldom.

Along those lines, people one runs into through this thread, I watched an interview of this guy, Reed Coverdale, and was impressed. I think I'll follow his thoughts for a while.

I'd post a link but ran into on odysee and that never works for me. He is on multiple platforms, also calls himself the "Naturalist Capitalist" in some contexts. If anyone is interested.

Also, just for general info, I went looking for the V-50 lectures on youtube, sending to someone, and found a fair number of random half-hour parts posted. However, try as I might I couldn't find Session 1a, 1b, etc. using the youtube search function. They are there, i was able to locate by doing a google search which gave me the link to the video on youtube that youtube couldn't find.

My understanding is that google owns youtube so I wonder what's up with that. An inefficiency or maybe a choke point of some sort.

I probably misread your prior post. China took a big risk when they interjected their form of capitalism into their system. I don't think it is a "variant", but a ploy to compete on the world stage. All tyrannical countries invariably become more restrictive and what the government giveth, the government can take away. The institution of social codes, cracking down on minority populations, organ harvesting and other atrocities.

All socialistic countries are expansionary because their form of government creates a shrinking pie. That's is why China is salivating over Taiwan. They reneged on their agreements when they took over Hong Kong. There is a reason that some of its citizens are waving US flags. The reason that the USA was not expansionary is because free enterprise makes the economic pie larger.

Thanks for expounding on Spengler. I agree. Everybody was making too much money. I owned several companies that desperately wanted into that market. They had to give up their first as well as their second born. Donald Trump had sounded the alarm for a long time as well. Technology is only part of it. They have cornered a huge portion of several markets including rare earths.

The China virus has proven that we cannot rely on China or the rest of the world for that matter when it comes to self-sufficiency in a range of strategic resources from pharmaceuticals to steel.

The other aspect on China is that some are sounding the alarm on a potential collapse of their real estate markets. Some hedge funds have invested huge sums of 401K / pension funds there such as Blackrock. They are big defenders of China as well as those whose kids have gigs working for them.

Meanwhile, the Chinese dominate a lot of our universities and then seek jobs in Silicon Valley or other USA dominant industries. I have spoken to a number of them at Washington University in STL. That is an invasion of a a different stripe will our kids are relegated to lesser schools.

The Chinese and the libs are not stupid people. They have learned from the past and are using our institutions against us. The CCP learned from past Soviet Union attempts to promote communism in this country and their inevitable fail based on economic shortfalls - pushed bt Ronald Reagan.

I agree so called progressives are regressive.
