So where is the govt getting its statistics on the variants?
During Covid we discovered that the 50-120 thousand flu death per year was estimated by the CDC and the data was never backed by Coroner or Cause of Death data on Death Certificates. Interestingly there were almost no Flu Deaths in 2020 and 2021 (reported by the CDC). Same death data was almost entirely attributed to Covid during those years.

So how many deaths were Flu and how many Covid? - and remember most or all of those had comorbidity conditions.

The outcome is that very few people die (directly) from the Flu or Covid - but those are serious conditions that added to individuals compromised by cancer, or other serious illnesses, combine to cause death.

For proof - think about our homeless population - if Covid was all that - we wouldn't have a homeless population. Most of the street people deaths the past 3 years - are due to Fentenyl and other opioids.

So to answer your question - it's all estimated by bureaucrats in a way that is backing up Government policies.

Good question. Clinical presentation is different, but not reliable enough. My guess is - they probably take statistical samples and sequence the virus. Maybe there is a way to sequence not the entire thing, but just some key regions. That would show the relative prevalence of variants. (That’s an educated guess. I don’t know for sure).
