LL, I see nothing "paranoid" about the anti-mask position. The inconvenience of wearing one is very minor compared to how much they can help slow the spread. And if they turn out not to work, so what? Better safe than sorry.

The antivax position, however, is different. Despite how much data is out there on the safety of vaccines, it's still a lot to ask out of people. Hence the reason why I am not generally in favor of a public vaccine mandate. Private businesses ought to be able to mandate them, though.

As for "nAtUrAl iMmUnItY," that is complete 100% denial. You are free to believe in it, but you're never going to convince me that relying on "nAtUrAl iMmUnItY" is the "paranoid" position. That's because relying on "nAtUrAl iMmUnItY" is the DEFAULT treatment against any disease. What's the point of modern medicine then?

Andy Grove's book is revolutionary because it defines how companies fall when they get complacent in their own success. To the old has-beens like Standard Oil, IBM, and GM, their continued dominance in their respective industries was the DEFAULT position. New technologies are shunned because they are too disruptive to their old models of success.

We know where Standard Oil, IBM, and GM reside now in the pecking order of American capitalism.

would argue like crazy about, well ... everything

LOL! SOP in the semiconductor industry thanks to that paranoid asshole Andy. His "constructive confrontation" (I call it assholiness) is pervasive throughout the industry thanks to that jerk. Yes he was smart but he ruined the work culture of an entire industry.
