I guess I didn't include my full line of thinking...

I was thinking that if a head supplier has established a manufacturing process that is a lower in cost for the same given head than a competitor he will be able to supply the head at a lower cost and still be profitable. The competitor might be limited in how low he is willing to drop the price, especially if he has other customers he can supply heads to.

I expect that in this way cost could come into play in how head suppliers are selected.
