I have been to the BJs in Westwood and La Jolla. The food was fresh, well-presented, and of excellent quality in both locations. I was particulary impressed by the homemade qualities of the pastas. For those reasonable prices most restaurants would usually dump most of the ingredients out of a can or the freezer, and I would not expect this is the case at BJs. And the baked to order cookie with the ice cream on it was memorable. The service in La Jolla was very good, but some of the staff seemed to have either worked in the location when it was another entity and seemed a little less inspired than the Westwood staff. It is probably nothing really abainst La Jolla, and certainly I was evaluating every person and every morsel of food every second I was there. But the Westwood staff was very impressive, and they were able to detail how they are trying to increase their delivery business, especially to businesses at lunch time. Of course delivery business is not dependent on square footage, so the overall overhead for it is lower, so that is an excellent strategy.
