Iranian nukes are a threat to Israel’s survival - even if they never end up being used. It’s a country the size of New Jersey — under a credible nuclear threat, they cannot flourish. Immigration would come to a stop - and people would look to emigrate to safer places - or, at least send away their kids, or at least some of them. A brain drain would take place. All this is unacceptable for a small nation that is still a long way from getting recognized by most of it's neighbors.

And… fighting a conventional war against a nation several times it's size and population - with Hamas and Hizb’Allah waiting to attack them from behind - is not easy either. In ‘73 they ran out of ammo and supplies within a couple of weeks. Hadn’t Richard Nixon overruled his advisors and sent help - it would be trouble. In our current admin, no one would overrule the gray eminences behind it.
