Out of the people you mentioned I met George Gilder - a few times, actually… I was a subscriber and was active on his forum. Attended a few meetings. I think GG is a wonderfully smart, fun guy. My wife instantly won his friendship by telling him that she read every one of his books - and that she always loved his writing. I feel the same way. In his Technology report, he mentioned a few times that he was primarily a writer - who happened to have a great interest in technology. For a quick sample, it’s probably still possible to find his posts here on SI, from the 1990’s, under the same name. And… yes, last I heard, he’s still alive and keeps writing.
