I try to stay out of politics, but I can't help this, especially after the calculations on the terminal interest rates that I did today. AQ, in cooperation with PANAC, succeeded in toppling the US. Sure, it may not look that way now, but that is b/c we haven't looked down yet and the gravity hasn't taken hold yet.

Very few empires have ever fallen because of external reasons. It's most often been because of what they did to themself. After the fall of the soviet union, had the US been more magnanimous and had decided to set the world on a different path instead of taking a victory lap with "the new world order," we'd have been in a much better place. Think about all the defense spending and unfunded wars of choice that went on since then. Think about how much rebuilding and advancement could that spending have accomplished.

But of course, if you are a career warrior, it is impossible to imagine a different world. That is how Rome died. That is how most empires die.
