I don't know. I assume most people want to improve their lot one way or another, but the effort is not long lasting, misguided or ends in failure. I am guessing though that your base assumption regards challenging our long-held assumptions. The dims do it all the time, but they replace reality with a false reality in such notions as sex, race or even the definition of words. When you start to believe that sex is a construct of your mind, anything is possible and then reality goes bye-bye.
