Michael, This is getting interesting! Both your points are valid. But as I see it enabled, I would be the one doing the filtering, and having the choice, I prefer th live with those down sides, especially, if I was also given the opportunity to filter out the responses.

I also think that if a poster could see a message on their Message Manager screen that would inform them how many SI members have filtered them out, and/or also just knowing that they could be filtered out would be an incentive to clean up their act.

SI is many things to many people, and so it should be. All I'm thinking of is making it more flexible so that it serves different interests better. Their are those that enjoy the conversation. Good. There are those that are using SI to become wannabe journalists, posting many long posts to each other, that after awhile say basically the same thing. Good. There are those that have an opinion about everything and have the irresistible urge to express it. Good, maybe? There are those that like to pump and dump. Good? NOT! But if they have paid their money, let em do it.

I'm on SI to get as much info as quickly as I can and help anybody that I can. I try to limit my posts to presenting facts, and answering requests for help. Sometimes I stray. :-)

I have many more ideas, but better leave them for another day. I don't like these long winded posts like this, but it helps Brad arrive at a solution that attracts more SI members, maybe it's worth it.

Best of luck to you all.

Cheers, Bob

If filtering is implemented then messages where the filtered person is the recipient would have to be suppressed too. Otherwise the filtering would be very ineffective and just confusing.
And I would like a easy to reach toggle switch to switch between filtered and unfiltered view of SI independant of the management of people to filter.
