We had a power cut for 4 hours yesterday. A timely reminder I need to prepare better for future mishaps. My main concern was the loss of contents of loaded freezers and fridge. Would not like to lose food stocks in adverse scenario. Some branches broke off a tree and shorted the phases on an overhead power line.

Have had various backup electric generators in the past, so looking to buy a nice quiet one, but not too heavy to lift in my older days. Just one to keep fridges and maybe the internet going. About a kilowatt should be plenty. A UPS too for just long enough to bring backup power online.
