AT, I do not use level II quotes (perhaps I should). The reason being that my trading horizon on a transaction is usually long term. My limit orders are usually not to far from the current bid/ask, and always in my favor, usually at least the ask if selling or the bid when buying. I am probably not qualified to give advice to day traders, the street.com had a very nice piece yesterday that you may like.
