limtex, yes someone did post that the Q would make an announcement relative to 3G and Europe. It never happened that I am aware of and surely somebody would have picked it up by now if it had.
But, Dr. Jacobs did have a favorable, if brief, remark to the effect that "events this week in Europe have shown that the Company's products are central to the next generation . . . ." This is a paraphrase and incomplete to boot. Not one analyst followed up on what may be the most important phase of the Q's next growth, so intent were they and everybody else on jumping out the window at the time. Mike Doyle

Short (financially oriented) answer on 3G....people are doing a lot of background info. informed tea leaf reading, but no one really knows. Recent developments make it look more like the Q has a shot, as opposed to previously looking outmaneuvered. In any event, any sales or conceiveable royalties in sig. amounts are at least three years away.

WIRELESS 98 conference in Atlanta 25,000 attendees expected as the Cellular Telecommunications Industry Association (CTIA) will be held February 23-25.No doubt 3G progress and its direction will be discussed as well as the Asian debacle with Korea well represented. These meetings are often filled with positive announcements and product introductions. We may hear some positive CDMA news that might offset all this negative short term news that will impact QUALCOMM Q2,Q3.The long term is what we all should be building our investment for.The future continues to look exciting and very profitable.Confidence will quickly be restored as the future trends become more clear.South America including Mexico,Globalstar and Europe CDMA/GSM overlay is already hinting a tremendous future.
