Let's take a recent example in ORCL (Orcale). They shocked the street with lousy earnings without guidance or fore warning. The stock tumbled for a few days to 18. They are now at 27!! Reason was Asia, although I doubt that to be the total case.

If you were smart enough to bail at 55 or 56, then you can wait. You could make a case of selling now. Frankly I'm looking of rthe dust to settle and go long on some long term call options. The thought of put's intrigue me, but the premium maybe to steep. In other words, it's too late.

To make myself clear, holding Q here for long term is perfectly reasonable in my opinion. I am virtually certain that you will be up, and smartly, from these levels a year from now.

I am also virtually certain that Q will be down, and significantly so, from here before then.

Q in the 30s probably does require the overall market to get pessimistic again, on Asia, or Clinton unable to fund IMF given little Monica, or whatever. Which I fully expect.

For all I know the stock will be up, somewhat, Monday or Tuesday or whatever. (Does Fido decide to lighten up some more on Monday, or wait for a bit of a hoped for near term true believer bounce before opening the sluices...? etc.) And the Tuesday discussions are a very opportune moment for management to try to refocus people on the rosy longer term.... But I would be very surprised if it doesn't trend lower over the next few weeks.
