Very true and I don't blame Putin but, we could have handled this diplomatically if and only if we made it clear an invasion would not be tolerated and ALL options were on the table. Openly stating that we wouldn't use military was an insanely stupid move. Russia is in good shape to ride out sanctions. He has China and the other Baltic region states, Iran, Syria etc. The NATO world needs Russia more than Russia needs the nations of NATO. If Putin had to worry about A-10s making mince meat out of his armored columns, US Bombers cluster bombing his troops and drones picking off anything else that moved, he would never have crossed the border. When the cold war first ended, we had a get together at Red Flag in Vegas. The Russians took us up in their jets and we took them up in ours and we played war games together. When everyone landed, our pilots were laughing and saying, "we were afraid of that?". Their pilots were scared to death and said it was a good thing they never had to go up against us. They might have improved a lot in the last 30 years but I doubt it. Our tracking, targeting and jamming systems are so much more advanced. Russia is good at making engines that go fast. We always joked if we could put a MIG engine in a F-15, it would probably go light speed. They suck at everything else. It's like a 60s muscle car trying to race a Lamborghini on a curvy Indy track. The muscle car looks nice, sounds powerful and accelerates good but gets blown away in the curves. We could have crippled their air force and laid waste to their ground assault. Instead Biden unfriended Putin on Facebook. Ohhhh, he's so upset. Pleeease.
